Taylor Lindman, the chief counsel of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Crypto Task Force, stated on Tuesday that the agency's proposed rules for crypto asset custody are currently under White House review. The initiative aims to make existing securities intermediaries and market participants more comfortable with utilizing blockchain technology and holding crypto assets, including both securities and non-securities. The rules will clarify how non-security crypto assets can be held by broker-dealers without special registration and guide investment advisers on parking client assets, such as in state-chartered trusts. Lindman characterized the SEC's broader crypto agenda as "foundation laying" to integrate crypto assets into a clear regulatory framework.
