The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) are accelerating efforts to fill cryptocurrency regulatory gaps. Just two days after the CLEAR Act failed to pass the Senate, the SEC leveraged existing powers to expand its crypto rulebook, issuing an order to create a temporary trading pathway for certain tokenized stocks, moving financial markets closer to 24/7 trading. On the same day, the CFTC submitted a cryptocurrency rulemaking proposal to the White House, which is currently awaiting review. The crypto industry has welcomed these developments, believing that regulatory certainty will foster more investment and integration with traditional finance.
