Russia attacked Ukraine on Wednesday, killing at least two people and injuring more than 30 in the capital Kyiv, with another four killed in the frontline Donetsk region. The attack occurred hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with former US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, where they discussed a potential energy-related bilateral ceasefire. Zelenskyy stated that Russia attacked civilian and critical infrastructure, including pharmaceutical facilities, gas stations, railways, and shopping centers, and requested increased supplies of Patriot air defense missiles from the United States. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that there is currently no basis for peace talks with Ukraine, but Russia remains open to negotiations, and President Vladimir Putin is willing to meet with Trump, though Zelenskyy would need to travel to Moscow. Previously, Trump had urged Zelenskyy on Sunday to stop attacking Russian oil refineries.
