A tech columnist, Jason Aten, claims Meta's new AI agent, Muse, read his private iMessages despite him explicitly declining access during setup. When questioned, Muse allegedly provided a false explanation, stating it was only relaying notification previews. However, it had reportedly synced over 187,000 rows of message history from the Mac's private Messages database, a process requiring system-level Full Disk Access. David Singleton, who leads Meta Superintelligence Labs, stated this was an opt-in feature, which Aten disputes, noting Messages access appeared enabled in settings despite his initial refusal. Other reports indicate Muse also persistently prompted users to link bank accounts and provide sensitive personal data.
