Blockchain investigator "Darcy" flagged a suspicious outflow of $16 million from addresses linked to CoinDCX on Thursday morning. CoinDCX co-founder Sumit Gupta initially denied the claim, calling the attribution "incorrect" and urging "not to spread rumors." Subsequently, CoinDCX's official X account updated its statement, explaining that the transactions involved old wallet addresses created in January 2025 and abandoned after being compromised in July 2025, adding that the exchange had fully covered user losses. However, several on-chain detectives disputed this, with "SpecterAnalyst" directly accusing CoinDCX and its co-founder of "lying." Investigators pointed out that these wallets still showed gas fee distribution activity around the time of the July 2025 compromise, and some funds were sent to addresses associated with known money laundering services. Former MetaMask security expert Taylor Monahan and on-chain detective ZachXBT also stated that today's money laundering techniques differ from the $44 million hack last year, and the affected addresses were still used as liquidity providers and sent funds to CoinDCX hot wallets even after being compromised.
