Breast cancer patients in Gaza are facing severe challenges, including delayed diagnoses, medicine shortages, and limited access to scans and treatment, according to Al Jazeera. The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that new breast cancer cases dropped from approximately 360 annually before the war to 250 in 2024 and 260 in 2025, warning these figures may not reflect the true number due to collapsed screening services. The ministry stated on October 1 that repeated breakdowns of mammography machines, shortages of laboratory supplies, and the unavailability or critical scarcity of chemotherapy, hormonal, and targeted therapies have severely restricted early detection and treatment. Radiotherapy is completely unavailable, and surgeries for advanced tumors have been halted. Patients like Hiba Musbah have experienced significant treatment delays due to Israeli military attacks, medicine unavailability, and an inability to afford diagnostic scans or receive security approval from Israel to travel for specialized care.
