Ukraine's Ministry of Defense on Thursday signed a letter of intent to collaborate with Finnish technology company Nokia and satellite manufacturer ICEYE to develop new defense and satellite communication capabilities. This follows SpaceX's speed restrictions on Starlink services in Ukraine, which caused high-speed mobile devices such as drones to disconnect, impacting military operations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that reliable communication is a matter of national security and must rely on controllable capabilities. Zelenskyy also announced this week a partnership with Norway to jointly develop air defense and communication systems as an alternative to Starshield. Ukrainian officials said on Friday that Starlink continues to restrict connections for devices exceeding 100 miles per hour (approximately 160 kilometers per hour).
