Broadridge, a financial technology company, reported its distributed-ledger repo platform processed an average of $359 billion daily in September, totaling $7.5 trillion for the month. The platform facilitates intraday borrowing for institutions, allowing them to use government bonds as collateral for short-term cash needs, often for just a few hours. The system utilizes digital tokens to represent securities held in custody and smart contracts to coordinate transactions, while the cash leg operates through conventional payment systems. Broadridge expanded its DLR system to G7 market securities in September.
