Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs Ahmad bin Mohammed al-Sayed has warned that trade and investment cannot flourish without peace and security. Speaking at the UN-led World Investment Forum in Doha on Sunday, al-Sayed cited geopolitical upheaval and growing economic fragmentation as threats to global investment prospects. His remarks come amidst ongoing conflicts and fears of escalation in the US-Israel war on Iran, which has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and contributed to a surge in oil prices, with Brent futures crossing $113.17 a barrel on Thursday.
