Blink Wallet began charging a $1 monthly inactivity fee for custodial accounts that have not been logged into for 12 months, starting in mid-October. This move aims to mitigate the operational costs of inactive accounts and accelerate user migration to self-custody solutions. According to the company's announcement, users who log in again within 12 months will receive a full refund. This policy change comes amidst the EU's MiCA regulation and US regulatory pressure, and follows a September 19 incident where hackers stole 6.61 Bitcoin via an administrative tool. Blink Wallet launched a Spark-enabled self-custody wallet in June this year.
