Oman's Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, stated that Gulf nations must take responsibility for their own security, and any security framework that does not include Iran cannot be effective. In a speech at Cambridge University, he pointed out that Iran has been "systematically excluded" from the region's security architecture, which has harmed the region. Albusaidi also said that Oman believes an agreement between Iran and the United States is imminent, despite political obstacles facing an interim arrangement drafted with Iran after the first round of Oman-brokered talks. He called for a "comprehensive security framework" that includes all eight Gulf littoral states.
