Seoul shares surged 3.09% to close at 5,638.34 points on Tuesday, driven by renewed optimism over artificial intelligence and falling oil prices. The rally, fueled by strong foreign buying, led the Korea Exchange to activate a buy-side sidecar at 10:13 a.m., temporarily suspending buy orders in program trading for KOSPI-listed shares. The Korean won also strengthened against the US dollar.
