Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that Lebanon is in contact with Washington to end Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon. Aoun noted that the Israeli attacks are hindering the implementation of the Framework Agreement and preventing the Lebanese army from extending national sovereignty to border areas to restore stability. He called on friendly nations, including Ireland, to increase diplomatic pressure on Israel to stop its attacks, fully withdraw from the southern region, and release prisoners. Aoun also said that Lebanon hopes the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) will complete its mission, but if UNIFIL cannot be extended, an alternative European force cooperating with the UN would also be welcome.
