The HKMA clarifies: The aforementioned fraudulent agreements and lending projects have absolutely no relation to the HKMA
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a statement indicating that it has recently received numerous public inquiries regarding fraudulent "e-HKD" projects that deceive the public into signing agreements, falsely claiming that related loans will be converted into e-HKD assets. The HKMA clarifies: The aforementioned fraudulent agreements and lending projects have absolutely no relation to the HKMA; the HKMA will not contact citizens or conduct fund transfers for any personal financial matters. The HKMA reiterates that all companies selected for the "e-HKD" pilot program and other institutions participating in the HKMA's sandbox initiatives will not solicit funds from the public or offer any wealth management and investment products in the name of these programs. The HKMA has reported the incident to the Hong Kong Police.
