India's major online investment platforms are opening up the U.S. stock market to millions of retail investors, aiming to meet their demand for global asset diversification. This move comes as the Indian market is underperforming. Indian investment platform Groww launched U.S. stock trading earlier this month, while the second-largest trading platform, Zerodha, has begun testing and plans to go live in a few weeks. Other brokerages, including Angel One, are also reportedly planning to offer U.S. stock trading. Early users' most favored companies include NVIDIA, SpaceX, Apple, Google, Amazon, Micron, and Meta. Analysts point out that the underperformance of the Indian stock market, the lack of local AI leaders, and the depreciation of the Indian Rupee against the U.S. Dollar are the main reasons driving investors towards U.S. stocks. So far this year, India's Nifty 50 index has fallen by nearly 13%, while the S&P 500 index has risen by over 12%.
