HTX reaches settlement with UK FCA, agrees to exit UK market
Cryptocurrency exchange HTX (associated with Justin Sun) has reached a settlement with the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), agreeing to cease illegally promoting crypto services to UK consumers and to exit the UK market. The FCA stated that this is its first enforcement action against a crypto company's marketing practices. HTX is no longer active in the UK, UK consumers cannot make deposits, and new users cannot register. Existing UK customers must withdraw funds within 48 hours, after which their accounts will be closed. The FCA emphasized that overseas companies are also subject to UK law. The settlement terms are confidential and do not constitute an admission of liability or wrongdoing by HTX.
