TRM and Chainalysis attribute the $6.4 billion Binance hack to North Korea's TraderTraitor group. Binance has allocated $6.34 billion of its own funds to cover the losses.
Blockchain analytics firms TRM Labs and Chainalysis have both attributed this week's $6.4 billion hack on Binance to the North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor, which was previously linked to the Bybit hack in February 2025. Binance stated it has allocated over $6.34 billion of its own funds to cover user losses, with $5 billion already used for stolen tokens, and the remainder being purchased through market and OTC channels. Tether, Circle, Ripple, and World Liberty Financial have frozen approximately $2.67 billion in stablecoins, and the Arbitrum Security Council has also frozen 8,426 ETH and 74.6 million ARB, with Binance pegging the total frozen amount at around $3 billion.
