HKMA advances Project Ensemble pilot phase, enabling 24/7 interbank settlement with tokenized central bank money.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today that EnsembleTX, the pilot phase of Project Ensemble, has entered a new chapter, supporting 24/7 interbank settlement of tokenized deposit transactions with tokenized central bank money (CeBM). The number of participating banks and industry pioneers has increased to 12 and 20, respectively, aiming to meet the demands of an increasingly globalized and round-the-clock digital financial market and promote the commercialization of tokenization applications. HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue stated that Project Ensemble has moved from the experimental stage to commercial promotion within two years, and the infrastructure upgrade reflects the HKMA's determination to foster the development of the tokenization ecosystem. Julia Leung, CEO of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), noted that this move is a significant step towards scalability for Hong Kong's tokenization market.
