Solana validators urged to act immediately on critical Linux vulnerability
Solana-focused software developer Anza and the Solana Foundation have issued an urgent warning to mainnet-beta validators regarding CVE-2026-98432, a critical Linux vulnerability with a severity score of 9.8/10. The flaw could allow hackers to remotely take control of affected Linux servers. While the underlying Linux kernel has been patched, Ubuntu 24.04, commonly used by Solana validators, has yet to receive the fix. Affected operators are advised to implement temporary protections, such as blocking specific TCP packets and disabling Multipath TCP. Anthropic research showed an AI model developed an exploit for this vulnerability, capable of achieving root access in approximately 53 minutes, though no evidence suggests Solana validators have been compromised.
