BTCPay Server urges merchants to shut down servers in response to hot wallet attacks targeting versions 2.4.1 and earlier.
BTCPay Server, a free and open-source Bitcoin payment tool, urged its operators on Sunday to shut down their servers following reports that attackers were stealing funds from hot wallets connected to these servers. The project team stated that these attacks appear to target versions 2.4.1 and earlier, while users running the latest version 2.4.7 have not reported any credible hot wallet thefts. This attack occurred just days after the project released an emergency update to fix critical vulnerabilities. BTCPay Server has not yet disclosed the number of affected servers or the amount of Bitcoin stolen.
