The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is set to introduce a Product Summary for investment-linked life insurance policies to enhance fee and risk disclosures. In a written parliamentary reply, MAS Chairman Gan Kim Yong stated that the authority will soon launch the Product Summary (PS) for investment-linked policies (ILPs) to provide clients with a standardized summary of key features, risks, and fees. MAS noted that existing rules already require insurers to display net financial benefits after deducting various charges and bonuses, as well as cumulative policy-level fees over the entire term, in policy illustrations. Moving forward, disclosures will be further strengthened to help clients assess the true costs and product suitability, preventing promotional bonuses from clouding a rational evaluation of the products themselves.
