According to CNBC, shares of Australian data center operator NextDC surged over 42% intraday on Thursday after Goodman Group and Digital Realty sought to acquire a stake of up to 9.9% in the company. NextDC disclosed that the two companies sought to acquire the shares via an after-hours bookbuild on Wednesday at A$9.50 per share, and the company is not yet aware of the outcome of the share acquisition. The NextDC board described the move as opportunistic in nature, noting that NextDC itself disclosed a power supply delay at its Melbourne M3 data center two weeks ago and revised its fiscal 2027 guidance. The two potential buyers stated that they currently have no intention of launching a takeover offer, but reserve the right to do so.
