Tether and Tron disbanded the T3 Financial Crime Unit two months before the $6.3 billion Binance hacking incident
According to Bloomberg, the T3 Financial Crime Unit, established in 2024 by TRON, Tether, and TRM Labs, was quietly dissolved in late August. The unit had previously partnered with 23 global jurisdictions to freeze more than $450 million in illicit USDT assets. Sources familiar with the matter stated that a lack of coordination and slow response times among members led to the alliance's collapse. The dissolution occurred two months prior to Binance experiencing the largest hack in history, involving $6.3 billion.
