India's CERT-In Warns of AI-Assisted Attacks Targeting Financial and Crypto Institutions, Involving Wallet Key Theft
According to CryptoSlate, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a warning regarding an AI-assisted attack campaign dubbed CRAFTY FALCON. Targeting banks, financial services, and crypto asset service providers, the campaign has resulted in compromised wallet keys and drained funds. The advisory also noted that some organizations suffered repeated attacks after incomplete remediation. Recommendations cited in the report include storing wallet keys in Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) or cold storage, enhancing monitoring, and verifying that intrusions have been completely eradicated. The public advisory did not name the affected exchanges, nor did it disclose the total amount of losses.
