Citing Al Jazeera and the Lebanese National News Agency, Lebanon's Foreign Minister, during talks with the Speaker of the Senate of Canada, urged Canada to support Lebanon's efforts to end the Israeli occupation and place all weapons under state control, while also calling for continued support for the Lebanese Armed Forces. The two sides also discussed the Lebanon-Israel negotiations and arrangements following the conclusion of the peacekeeping mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. In a separate meeting in Ottawa, the Lebanese Foreign Minister stated that the framework agreement signed with Israel is not a final treaty, but rather a framework for future negotiations.
