What Is SRM? The Uses, History, and Ways to Obtain the Serum Token
SRM is the native token of the decentralized exchange Serum. The Serum project is built on the Solana blockchain and aims to provide a high-speed, low-cost on-chain trading experience using a centralized limit order book. SRM tokens are primarily used to pay for trading fee discounts, participate in governance, and earn liquidity mining rewards. The project has close ties to the now-bankrupt FTX exchange and its affiliate, Alameda Research; the FTX incident dealt a severe blow to SRM’s price and community confidence. Despite this, SRM can still be traded on major centralized and decentralized exchanges.
