On May 14, 2026, the U.S. Senate Banking Committee passed the "Clearity Act" (CLARITY Act) by a vote of 15 to 9, marking a significant step forward in U.S. cryptocurrency regulation.The bill aims to provide a clear regulatory framework for digital assets, distinguish between digital commodities and investment contract assets, and grant the CFTC and SEC corresponding jurisdiction.Following the bill’s passage, the price of Bitcoin briefly surpassed $82,000, reflecting the market’s positive expectations regarding regulatory certainty. Although the White House has reached an agreement on the ethics provisions, the bill must still pass a full Senate vote and undergo consideration by the House of Representatives before it can ultimately take effect.
