FTT Token Overview: The “Legacy Asset” of the FTX Exchange
FTT is the native utility token of the now-bankrupt FTX cryptocurrency derivatives exchange. It was originally designed to support various functions on the FTX platform, such as trading fee discounts, collateral for futures positions, and staking rewards. However, following FTX’s bankruptcy filing in November 2022, FTT has lost its core functionality and is currently traded primarily as a speculative “legacy asset” tied to the outcome of the bankruptcy liquidation.

The Rise and Fall of the FTX Exchange and the Fate of FTT
The FTX exchange was founded in 2019 by Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) and Gary Wang and incubated by Alameda Research. At its peak in 2021, FTX was one of the world’s largest centralized cryptocurrency exchanges, with a valuation as high as $32 billion. As the cornerstone of its ecosystem, the FTT token also held significant market value at the time.

However, the good times were short-lived. In November 2022, a CoinDesk report revealed that Alameda Research’s financial position was heavily reliant on FTT, sparking market concerns about FTX’s financial health.Subsequently, Binance decided to liquidate its FTT holdings, further exacerbating FTX’s liquidity crisis. After a surge in customer withdrawals exposed an $8 billion funding shortfall, FTX ultimately filed for bankruptcy.Sam Bankman-Fried resigned as CEO, and the incident was described by federal prosecutors as “one of the largest financial frauds in U.S. history.” With the collapse of FTX, the utility of the FTT token also crumbled, and its value plummeted.
FTT Market Performance and Current Data
As of this writing (August 24, 2026), the price of FTT ranges from approximately $0.22 to $0.24, with a market capitalization estimated at around $73 million to $75 million. It should be noted that some market data platforms (such as CoinGecko) may show market capitalization data as unavailable because they do not report circulating supply; therefore, the market capitalization figures above are estimates. FTT’s circulating supply is approximately 328 million tokens, with a total supply of 352 million tokens.

FTT’s all-time high (ATH) ranged from $84.18 to $84.91 (in September 2021), while its all-time low (ATL) was approximately $0.19 to $0.191.Since its all-time high, FTT’s price has fallen by more than 90%, reflecting the devastating impact of the FTX bankruptcy on its value.
FTT’s Future Outlook and Investment Risks
Currently, FTT’s future value depends almost entirely on the legal outcome of the FTX bankruptcy case and the progress of creditor repayments, rather than on any technological advancements or project developments. The collapse of FTX has had a profound impact on the cryptocurrency market but only a limited impact on traditional financial markets.

The market generally views FTT as a highly speculative asset. Since its native platform has gone bankrupt, FTT no longer has a clear operational platform or roadmap, and its practical utility is limited. For investors, FTT poses extremely high levels of uncertainty and risk.
Trading Channels for FTT

Although FTX has filed for bankruptcy, the FTT token can still be traded on some centralized cryptocurrency exchanges. As of this writing, platforms supporting FTT trading include, but are not limited to, Binance, KuCoin, MEXC, BingX, and LBank. Before trading, investors must verify the latest prices and project information on market data platforms such as Svmuu and fully understand its highly speculative nature and the risks associated with bankruptcy liquidation.
