HONEY Coin Overview: The Driving Force Behind Decentralized Maps
HONEY is the utility cryptocurrency of the Hivemapper decentralized global mapping network. The Hivemapper project aims to build a real-time, cost-effective global digital map through crowdsourcing, challenging the monopoly of traditional centralized mapping services. The core concept of this network is "Drive-to-Earn," which incentivizes ordinary users to collect street-level imagery and map data by driving daily and installing Hivemapper dashcams.

HONEY was first minted on November 1, 2022, and its underlying technical architecture is based on the high-performance Solana blockchain, ensuring fast and low-cost transactions.
HONEY Coin's Mechanism and Tokenomics
HONEY plays a dual role in the Hivemapper ecosystem:
- Incentivizing Contributors: Users, as map contributors, can earn HONEY as a reward by collecting and uploading high-quality map data. This model distributes the cost and efficiency advantages of data collection to users worldwide.
- Driving Data Consumption: Businesses and developers who need to use map data provided by the Hivemapper network must pay by burning HONEY. This "burning" action creates continuous demand for HONEY and supports the network's economic cycle.

Hivemapper employs a unique "burn and mint" tokenomics model. When consumers burn HONEY to acquire map data, a portion of the tokens is re-minted and distributed to contributors to continuously incentivize data collection; the remaining HONEY is permanently burned, thus implementing a deflationary mechanism for the token. According to Map Improvement Proposal 15 in April 2024, the proportion re-issued to contributors is set at 25%, with the remaining 75% permanently burned, and a weekly consumption reward cap of 500,000 HONEY is set.
The maximum supply of HONEY is 10 billion tokens. Its token distribution plan is as follows: 40% to contributors, 20% to investors, 20% to employees, 15% to Hivemapper Inc., and 5% to the Hivemapper Foundation.
Project Background and Development

Hivemapper was co-founded by Ariel Seidman and Evan Moss. The project attracted prominent investment institutions early on. In April 2022, Hivemapper announced the completion of an $18 million Series A funding round, with major investors including Multicoin Capital and Solana Ventures. These funds supported the project's technical development and ecosystem building.
Hivemapper's vision is to solve the problems of slow updates, high costs, and monopolization by a few giants in traditional map data, providing a more resilient, real-time, and open global mapping solution through decentralization.
HONEY Coin Trading and Purchase Channels

As a token within the Solana ecosystem, HONEY can be traded on cryptocurrency exchanges and DEXs that support Solana assets. As of publication, you can find HONEY trading pairs on the following platforms:
- Centralized Exchanges (CEX): Coinbase Exchange, Kraken, KuCoin, Gate, CoinEx, etc.
- Decentralized Exchanges (DEX): Orca, Meteora DAMM V2, etc.
Before trading, please verify the latest trading pairs and liquidity information on mainstream market data platforms. Since HONEY is a token on the Solana chain, when trading on DEXs, you will need to use a Web3 wallet that supports the Solana network (such as Phantom Wallet, Solflare, etc.) to connect to the DEX for exchange.
Risk Warning

The cryptocurrency market is highly volatile, and the price of HONEY is influenced by various factors such as market supply and demand, project development, and the macroeconomic environment. Investors should fully understand the project mechanism, assess their risk tolerance, and be aware of market risks before participating in trading.
