SafeMoon (SFM) Project Overview and Demise
SafeMoon (SFM) was once a highly-watched cryptocurrency project that attracted a large number of early investors with its "static rewards, liquidity pool growth, and burn mechanism." However, since 2023, the project has suffered a series of major setbacks, ultimately leading to its demise. Currently, SafeMoon LLC has filed for bankruptcy, its core executives have been convicted of fraud, and the market activity of the SFM token has plummeted to extremely low levels.

Company Bankruptcy and Legal Proceedings
SafeMoon LLC officially announced its Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in December 2023, ceasing all operations and corporate activities. Prior to this, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the U.S. Department of Justice had filed lawsuits in November 2023 against SafeMoon and its executive team, including former CEO Braden John Karony, founder Kyle Nagy, and former employee Thomas Smith, alleging securities fraud, unregistered securities offerings, and money laundering.
Legal proceedings advanced swiftly, with former CEO Braden John Karony being convicted by a federal jury in May 2025 on all counts of securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering conspiracy, facing up to 45 years in prison. These legal actions thoroughly exposed the fraudulent nature of the project and led to its complete loss of legitimacy.

Token Technical Evolution and Security Incidents
During its operation, the SafeMoon token underwent several technical iterations:

- SafeMoon V2 Migration: In December 2021, SafeMoon completed a token migration, consolidating V1 tokens into SafeMoon V2 at a 1000:1 ratio.
- Liquidity Pool Attack: In March 2023, SafeMoon's liquidity pool was attacked, resulting in a loss of approximately $9 million in tokens, although the hacker later returned $7 million of the stolen funds.
- Solana Blockchain Migration: In April 2025, SafeMoon attempted a full migration to the Solana blockchain and shut down all V2 contracts. However, due to the overall collapse of the project, this migration failed to save its fate.
SFM Token Market Status and Risk Warning
As of September 4, 2026, the SafeMoon (SFM) token has performed extremely poorly, with its value having fallen by over 98.7% since its all-time high in April 2021. The current trading price of SFM is approximately $0.00000061 to $0.00000063. Its market capitalization has shrunk to between $374,000 and $388,000, with extremely low 24-hour trading volumes, amounting to only a few hundred dollars.

Given that SafeMoon LLC has filed for bankruptcy, its key personnel have been convicted of fraud, and token trading volume and liquidity are extremely scarce, the project no longer has an active development team, operational products, or legitimate leadership. The token's trading market has almost dried up, lacking effective transactions. Investors should be highly vigilant, as this project exhibits typical characteristics of a pyramid scheme/Ponzi scheme, with almost zero investment value and an extremely high risk of capital loss.
