Origin and Vision of GTO (Gifto)
GTO, or Gifto, was initially a decentralized virtual gifting protocol designed to revolutionize content creators' monetization methods. The project was launched in 2017 by Asian Innovations Group (AIG) and operated on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token. Gifto's core concept was to allow users to directly support their favorite content creators on any social media platform by sending and receiving GIFTO tokens as virtual gifts. Uplive, a live-streaming platform under AIG, had a large user base, which laid a solid foundation for GIFto's initial promotion.
Token Renaming and Ecosystem Upgrade: From GTO to GFT
On January 12, 2023, the Gifto project initiated a significant upgrade and rebranding plan, officially renaming the GTO token to GFT. This renaming was accompanied by a 1:1 swap of old GTO tokens (including ERC-20 and BEP-2 versions) for new GFT tokens. The old tokens were burned after the swap to ensure the uniqueness of the token supply. The new GFT token is no longer based on Ethereum but has migrated to the BNB Smart Chain (BNB Chain), becoming a BEP-20 standard token. This upgrade aims to expand the Gifto ecosystem, introducing a series of new features including a Web3 wallet, NFT marketplace (Gifto Store), token staking, and charitable donations, with the goal of building a more comprehensive and vibrant Web3 content economy.
GFT Tokenomics
The initial total supply of GTO tokens was 1,000,000,000. After the renaming to GFT and the token swap, the total and circulating supply of GFT were adjusted. As of the time of writing, the total and circulating supply of GFT is approximately 2.23 billion to 2.24 billion GFT (slight discrepancies may exist between different data sources, e.g., Crypto.com shows approximately 2.24 billion, CoinMarketCap shows approximately 2.23 billion). The GTO network was officially launched in December 2017, and its historical high price reached $1.05.
Core Team and Supporters
The Gifto project was built by Asian Innovations Group (AIG), a team with extensive experience in the internet and live-streaming sectors, led by Andy Tian. In its early stages, the project received support from renowned institutional investors such as KPCB and Wicklow Capital, which provided funding and strategic resources for its development.
GFT Trading and Exchange Channels
GTO tokens have been listed on Binance since 2017, being the first token on Binance Launchpad, which demonstrated its early market recognition. After the token renaming to GFT, many mainstream centralized exchanges (CEXs) typically complete the GTO to GFT token swap directly for users, simplifying the process.
