What is BTT?
BTT is the native cryptocurrency of the BitTorrent ecosystem. BitTorrent is a long-standing peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing protocol launched in 2001 and acquired by the TRON Foundation in 2018. In February 2019, BTT was first issued as a TRC-10 standard token on the TRON blockchain, with its core purpose being to incentivize users to share bandwidth and file resources.
For example, with the BitTorrent Speed feature, downloaders can pay a small amount of BTT for faster download speeds, while uploaders receive BTT rewards in return. Subsequently, the project launched the independent BitTorrent Chain (BTTC) and implemented a 1:1000 token conversion, bringing the total supply of BTT to 990 trillion. BTTC added support for smart contracts and decentralized applications, and enabled cross-chain connectivity with networks such as Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain.
Current Market and Ecosystem Dynamics
According to public market data around October 13, 2026, the BTT price is approximately $0.00000037, with a market capitalization ranking around 100. Its 24-hour trading volume ranges from several million to tens of millions of US dollars, indicating a certain level of market liquidity.
Recently, the BitTorrent team announced a token buyback and burn program, planning to use a portion of the revenue generated from decentralized services for quarterly buybacks. Additionally, BTT has expanded its listing on more trading platforms.
How to Buy and Trade BTT

BTT can be traded on multiple major centralized cryptocurrency exchanges globally. This is currently the most direct way to acquire BTT. Common platforms that support BTT spot trading include:
- Binance
- OKX
- KuCoin
- Gate.io
- HTX (formerly Huobi Global)
On these platforms, users can typically exchange mainstream cryptocurrencies such as USDT, BTC, or ETH for BTT. The purchase process is similar to other cryptocurrencies: register and complete identity verification, deposit funds (fiat or cryptocurrency), find the BTT trading pair (e.g., BTT/USDT) in the spot trading section, and place an order.
Additionally, as an asset within the TRON ecosystem and on the BTTC chain, BTT can also be exchanged on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) via Web3 wallets that support TRC-20 or the BTTC chain (such as TronLink, MetaMask, etc.), though liquidity is generally lower than on centralized exchanges.
Important Considerations
BTT's price is highly volatile, and its long-term value is closely tied to the actual adoption and development of the BitTorrent ecosystem. Before engaging in any transactions, please conduct your own research and make decisions based on your personal risk tolerance. The cryptocurrency market carries high risks, and investments should be made with caution.
