BEND is the governance token of the BendDAO protocol. BendDAO is a decentralized, non-custodial NFT collateral lending protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain, allowing users to borrow ETH using their NFTs as collateral or earn yield by providing ETH liquidity.

Project Positioning and Core Mechanism

BendDAO's core objective is to solve the liquidity problem of NFT assets. Its core functions include:

  • NFT Collateral Lending: Users can use blue-chip NFTs (such as BAYC, CryptoPunks, etc.) as collateral to instantly borrow ETH without selling the NFT itself.
  • Liquidity Provision: Users can deposit ETH into the protocol's lending pool to provide funds for borrowers, thereby earning interest income.
  • Governance and Incentives: BEND token holders can stake their tokens to obtain veBEND, which is used to participate in protocol governance votes (e.g., adjusting parameters) and share a portion of the protocol's revenue.

Development History and Challenges

BendDAO launched on the testnet in January 2022. A critical point in its development was the liquidity crisis it faced in August 2022. At that time, due to the NFT market entering a bear market, the value of collateralized NFTs fell, leading to a large number of loans facing liquidation. However, the auction market lacked buyers, causing the protocol's ETH reserves to be almost depleted. This event exposed the illiquidity risk of NFTs as collateral under extreme market conditions. The community subsequently passed emergency proposals to adjust parameters such as liquidation thresholds and auction cycles to stabilize the protocol.

Afterward, the project team admitted to underestimating the liquidity risk of NFTs in a bear market. This experience also became an important case for evaluating the risks of similar protocols.

Current Status and Data

Analysis of BEND Coin's Current Status and Prospects

According to recent data, the price of the BEND token is in a lower range, and its market capitalization is relatively small. Its 24-hour trading volume is low, indicating limited market activity. The total supply of the token is 10 billion, with a circulating supply of approximately 4.11 billion.

It should be noted that the BendDAO protocol itself is still operational. Recently, the project team also launched the BRC-20 standard token BDIN and plans to expand into BRC-20 cross-chain and lending fields, showing an intention to develop into a multi-chain ecosystem.

Future Roadmap and Outlook Analysis

According to the roadmap disclosed by the project team (originally planned for execution in 2023-2024), BendDAO's focus is on upgrading to V2, including product prototype development, testnet release, official launch, and tokenomics model updates, aiming to introduce on-chain governance and enhance user experience.

From a prospective view, the NFT liquidity problem that BendDAO addresses still has demand in the NFT finance (NFTFi) sector. Its veBEND model aims to enhance community participation and user stickiness. However, its development also faces clear challenges:

  • Market Dependence: The protocol's activity is highly correlated with the overall prosperity of the NFT market.
  • Risk Management: How to optimize oracle pricing and liquidation mechanisms to prevent liquidity crises similar to 2022 is an ongoing challenge.
  • Competitive Environment: The NFT lending space has seen multiple protocols emerge, intensifying competition.

Overall, the value of BEND coin is closely linked to the actual use of the BendDAO protocol, its risk control capabilities, and ecosystem expansion. Investors need to closely monitor its technical upgrade progress, governance community activity, and the dynamics of the overall NFT market.
