During the New Year’s Day holiday, Hainan’s airport ports saw a surge in passenger traffic. On the first day of the new year, the three major airports on Hainan Island handled 1,065 flights, transporting 169,500 passengers. There was an increase in passenger traffic from cross-border tourism, as well as from compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, overseas Chinese returning to China, and those traveling home for family reunions. It is estimated that during the New Year’s Day holiday, the total number of people entering and exiting Hainan will reach 33,500. (CCTV News)
