On January 2, local time, the UAE government issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to de-escalating tensions in Yemen and ending the presence of its counterterrorism military forces in the country. In the statement, UAE government officials also said: “ Over the past decade, at the request of Yemen’s legitimate government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE has acted within the framework of the Saudi-led coalition, making significant sacrifices to support stability and security in Yemen, particularly in combating terrorist organizations that threaten civilians and the broader region.” The statement added: “In line with its policy of urging calm and de-escalation, the UAE has ended the presence of its counterterrorism forces in Yemen.”
