Haikou Customs reported on the 2nd that on the first day of the New Year’s Day holiday, Hainan’s duty-free sales on outlying islands reached 148,000 items, a 30% increase year-over-year; the number of shoppers totaled 32,000, a 45.8% increase year-over-year; and the total sales amount reached 251 million yuan, a 93.8% increase year-over-year.
