Is the China-specific AI version live? Apple responds
Some bloggers have reported that Apple has recently launched a rolling beta test of the "Apple Intelligence and Siri" feature for select devices sold in China. Users eligible for the test can find the relevant options in their device settings. The specific path to the settings is "Settings > Apple Intelligence & AI > Turn on Apple Intelligence." The initial setup requires an update and download while connected to power and Wi-Fi. Once the download is complete, the "App Garden" app will appear on the home screen. Some netizens commented that they had also received notifications about the Apple AI update, but found during use that the AI’s responses were all based on existing answers from Baidu, suggesting that some features may have been stripped down. In response, a reporter contacted Apple, and a technical advisor stated that as of today, Apple AI has not officially launched, and any future launch will be announced on the official website. It is expected that only the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models will be compatible with Apple AI, “because the AI’s algorithms place extremely high demands on hardware, and the iPhone 15’s hardware does not yet meet those requirements.” The technical advisor also cautioned that some bloggers had previously used third-party software to bypass restrictions and force the feature to activate, noting that “this could impact financial and account security.” (21st Century Business Herald)
