Paul Chan, Secretary for Finance of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated that as the country advances toward high-level self-reliance and self-strengthening in science and technology, Hong Kong’s financial markets can provide robust financial support to cutting-edge technology companies from the Mainland. As of the end of last year, more than 400 new economy companies had listed in Hong Kong, and it is expected that a steady stream of cutting-edge technology companies will be among those applying for listings this year. Paul Chan noted that Hong Kong not only welcomes these companies to list and raise capital here, but also encourages them to establish research and development centers in Hong Kong, commercialize their innovations, and set up advanced manufacturing facilities. By fully leveraging Hong Kong’s strengths, these companies can join forces to accelerate development while simultaneously enriching and expanding Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem and industries. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will build on this momentum to foster a more vibrant innovation, technology, and industrial ecosystem and drive high-quality economic development.
