German Vice Chancellor: U.S. Intervention in Venezuela Is "Very Worrying"
German Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Klaus Klinbauer, who also serves as co-chair of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), said on the 4th that U.S. intervention in Venezuela is “extremely concerning.” Klinbauer stated that the situation within Venezuela cannot serve as a justification for disregarding international law, adding, “International law must be respected, and this applies to U.S. actions as well.” He emphasized that further escalation must be prevented, and that all parties involved should “find a path for Venezuela to transition peacefully toward democracy.” He noted that only the Venezuelan people can determine their own future. German Chancellor Merz stated on social media on the 3rd that “the legal assessment of U.S. intervention is complex and requires careful consideration; international law remains the guiding framework,” adding that “at this stage, political turmoil in Venezuela must be avoided.” (CCTV News)
