On the afternoon of January 3, a market in Niger State, in north-central Nigeria, was attacked by armed assailants, leaving more than 30 people dead and several others kidnapped. The attack took place at the Kasuwan Dagi Market in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. After looting shops and stealing food and other valuables, the gunmen set the market on fire. Washu Abiodun, a spokesperson for the Niger State Police, said a joint security force had been dispatched to the scene and confirmed that the attack had left more than 30 people dead, with others abducted.
