On January 4 local time, Yemen’s Ministry of Transport announced that Yemen Airways would resume commercial flights from Aden International Airport starting that day. In a statement, the Ministry of Transport said that during the initial phase of the resumption, all flights would depart only from Aden, primarily serving four regional destinations: Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Amman in Jordan, and Cairo in Egypt. Aden International Airport is currently the only major airport in Yemen still in operation; it is controlled by the Southern Transitional Council. On January 1, the Ministry of Transport, which is loyal to the Southern Transitional Council, ordered the suspension of all flights to and from Aden International Airport. (CCTV)
