Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport: By 2028, pilot initiatives to support green and low-carbon development in the highway sector through government procurement will have made significant progress.
The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport have issued a notice regarding the organization and implementation of a pilot program on “Government Procurement in Support of Green and Low-Carbon Development in the Highway Sector.” The pilot program’s objectives are as follows: Select a group of highway projects with a solid foundation for green development to launch pilot initiatives for government procurement supporting green and low-carbon highway development; actively promote the application of “new materials, new technologies, new processes, and new methods”; and explore effective models for applying green and low-carbon technologies and green materials (including equipment, hereinafter the same). The objectives of the pilot program are: By 2028, the pilot program on government procurement supporting green and low-carbon development in the highway sector will have made significant progress; green and low-carbon technologies and materials will be innovatively applied in the highway sector; standards for government procurement requirements supporting green and low-carbon development in the highway sector will be largely established; and policy measures and working mechanisms for government procurement supporting green and low-carbon development in the highway sector will be further improved, thereby driving continuous enhancement in the level of green and low-carbon development in the highway sector.
