Hedge fund manager Ben Cleary believes Venezuela is becoming one of the biggest money-making opportunities for investors in history. He said he would be sending an investment team to Caracas this week to meet with potential partners and evaluate possible assets. Over the past weekend, his team has already held discussions with Venezuelan companies regarding potential investment opportunities.“Every bank is sending people there,” Cleary said in an interview. “It’s a massive gold rush.”The partner and director at Tribeca Investment Partners, which manages $4 billion in assets, said he is willing to invest up to 10% of his fund in the country if the plan proposed by Donald Trump succeeds and Venezuela becomes more welcoming to foreign capital. Opportunities include buying shares in publicly traded companies that will benefit from increased resource production or providing private credit to local businesses.
