Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian stated on January 5 that regardless of how the international situation may change, China will always remain a good friend and partner to the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and China’s policy toward Latin America will maintain continuity and stability. At the daily press briefing that day, Lin Jian said that China adheres to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, respects the choices of the Latin American people, and does not draw lines based on ideology. China’s exchanges and cooperation with Latin American countries have always been guided by the principles of equality and mutual benefit; China never seeks spheres of influence nor targets any party. “Latin American and Caribbean countries have the right to independently choose their development paths and partners. China is willing to continue working together with Latin American countries in solidarity to navigate the shifting international landscape, pursue development and prosperity through mutually beneficial cooperation, and bring benefits to the peoples of both sides,” Lin Jian said.
