Preliminary vote counts indicate that the current president of the Central African Republic, Touadéra, has won re-election
On January 5, 2026, local time, the Central African Republic’s National Electoral Commission announced the preliminary results of the first round of the presidential election. Incumbent President Touadéra secured more than half of the votes, with over 1.15 million votes cast, placing him first among all candidates. In accordance with electoral procedures, the Constitutional Court of the Central African Republic will review and confirm the preliminary results in the coming days, with the final results of the presidential election expected to be officially announced on January 20. The Central African Republic held presidential, National Assembly, regional, and municipal elections on December 28, 2025. Approximately 2.3 million voters were registered for this election. A total of seven candidates competed for the presidency, including incumbent President Touadéra, former Prime Minister Dologuélé, and Dongela. (CCTV)
