The 2026 National Conference on Foreign Exchange Management was held in Beijing on January 5–6. The conference emphasized deepening reforms to facilitate foreign exchange operations and focusing on enhancing the vitality and momentum of high-quality development. Efforts will be made to optimize the management of trade-related foreign exchange operations, expand pilot programs for high-level opening-up in cross-border trade in an orderly manner, strengthen support for the development of new trade models such as cross-border e-commerce, and improve the management of corporate trade credit reporting. Efforts will be made to build an open, diverse, fully functional, and orderly competitive foreign exchange market. Financial institutions will be supported in developing simple and user-friendly exchange rate hedging products, reducing hedging costs for small, medium, and micro enterprises, and improving the service level of foreign exchange market infrastructure.
