Ministry of Commerce Responds to Tighter Export Controls on Dual-Use Items to Japan: Aiming to Prevent "Remilitarization"; Civilian Uses Will Not Be Affected
At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce on the 8th, Ministry spokesperson He Yadong, in response to a question regarding the tightening of export controls on dual-use items to Japan, stated that Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s erroneous remarks on Taiwan infringe upon China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, constitute blatant interference in China’s internal affairs, and amount to a threat of force against China. He Yadong noted that as a responsible major country, China has consistently and actively fulfilled its international non-proliferation obligations. In accordance with laws and regulations, China prohibits the export of all dual-use items to Japanese military users, for military purposes, and for any other end-user applications that contribute to enhancing Japan’s military capabilities. The purpose of these measures is to curb “remilitarization” and nuclear ambitions, and they are entirely justifiable, reasonable, and lawful. He Yadong said that China remains committed to maintaining the stability and security of global supply chains, and that civilian applications will not be affected by these measures. There is absolutely no need for concern among parties engaged in normal civilian trade. (Xinhua News Agency)
