Ministry of Public Security: Chen Zhi, the leader of a major cross-border gambling and fraud syndicate, has been extradited from Cambodia
With the support and cooperation of relevant Cambodian authorities, the Ministry of Public Security dispatched a task force and successfully repatriated Chen Zhi (a Chinese national), the leader of a major cross-border gambling and fraud syndicate, from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This marks another significant achievement in law enforcement cooperation between China and Cambodia. Investigations have revealed that Chen Zhi’s criminal syndicate is suspected of multiple crimes, including operating illegal gambling dens, fraud, illegal business operations, and laundering proceeds of crime. Currently, Chen Zhi has been placed under compulsory measures in accordance with the law, and the relevant cases are under further investigation. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Public Security stated that public security authorities will soon issue public warrants for the first batch of key members of Chen Zhi’s criminal syndicate and will resolutely apprehend and bring the fugitives to justice. Public security authorities warn criminals to recognize the gravity of the situation, stop their criminal activities immediately, and turn themselves in to seek lenient treatment. (CCTV News)
