The inquiries mainly focused on whether Russian citizens can receive their pensions in cryptocurrencies and whether income from cryptocurrency mining will be included in social welfare calculations. The fund responded that all pensions and social payments are issued in rubles, and issues related to cryptocurrency taxes and income are the responsibility of the Russian Federal Tax Service. In addition, according to a report by Chainalysis, Russia received $376.3 billion in cryptocurrencies from July 2024 to June 2025, making it the largest cryptocurrency market in Europe. Currently, the Russian Central Bank proposes to allow retail investors to purchase a limited amount of specific cryptocurrencies worth up to 300,000 rubles per year, subject to passing certain tests.
