Powell’s public statements and a review of expenditure records. The renovation project has a budget of approximately $2.5 billion and is currently estimated to be $700 million over budget.Jerome H. Powell previously denied during congressional hearings that the project included luxury amenities such as private elevators and marble finishes, stating that certain features had been scaled back as the project evolved. Federal Reserve has declined to comment on the matter at this time.
